  • Summer 2025 JROCT Updates:

    Congratulation to Blount, Bryant, Davidson, and Murphy High School JROTC programs within Mobile County Public School System who each had a cadet to receive the 2024-2025 National Army or Navy ROTC Scholarship this past school year. Recipients are Cadet SGM Evan Eleekima, Blount High School; Cadet COL Hannah Watson, Bryant High School; Cadet COL Mercedes English, Murphy High School, all for Army and Cadet Tyler Dailey from Davidson High School for Navy.  Each of them also received several Academic scholarships as well.

    Receiving a ROTC (Reserve Officers' Training Corps) Scholarship for college can provide a wide range of benefits—both financial and personal. Here’s a breakdown of the key advantages:

     Army & Navy ROTC Scholarships:

    • Often covers full tuition and mandatory fees at public and many private colleges.

    • Includes an annual book allowance (usually around $1,200).

    • Some scholarships also cover room and board if tuition is already covered.

     Monthly Stipend

    • You receive a monthly tax-free stipend during the school year (usually around $420/month).

    • Helps with living expenses without requiring a job during school.

    Guaranteed Career After Graduation

    • Upon graduation, you are commissioned as an officer in the U.S. military.

    • Offers job security and leadership opportunities right after college.

    • Entry-level officer pay (O-1) includes salary, housing, medical, and other benefits.

    The AUSA Redstone – Huntsville Chapter held its annual JROTC and ROTC Cadre Breakfast on July 31, 2025, at the Jackson Center in Huntsville, Alabama. The guest speaker for the Breakfast was Maj. Gen. Patrick W. Burden, U.S. Army Retired. The Instructor Appreciation Breakfast is designed to recognize and celebrate the dedicated professionals who shape the minds, foster curiosity, and inspire achievement within the ROTC and JROTC programs in our community and the state of Alabama. Association of the United States Army — A nonprofit organization that supports the U.S. Army and its soldiers through education, advocacy, and community outreach.  AUSA also hosts events and symposia like the annual AUSA Meeting in Washington, D.C. Publishes professional content like Army magazine and other research. Advocates on Capitol Hill for Army funding, readiness, and veteran support. Provides networking opportunities for military professionals, defense industry partners, and supporters.  AUSA membership is open to: Soldiers, Retirees, Veterans, Military families, Civilians, and Businesses in the defense industry.
