FFA Day on the Hill

Recently the members of FFA Chapters, from across Alabama were a part of "FFA Day on the Hill." It was the first time that Alabama FFA Chapters were invited and recognized by the Alabama House of Representatives and the Alabama Senate. Approximately 150 FFA Members and their FFA Advisors from 25 FFA Chapters were present for this event.

After a Meet and Greet at the Alabama Cattleman's Building during the morning, and a meal furnished by the Alabama Cattleman's Association, the Alabama Farmers Federation, other Alabama Agricultural Organizations, the FFA Members were divided into two groups, one of which went to the Alabama House of Representatives while the other half went to the Alabama Senate. Here they watched as their names and chapters were called out and watched as each house passed a resolution noting, Tuesday, March 29, 2011, as "FFA Day in Alabama." They also saw Auburn Football Coach Gene Cizick, and his wife, honored with a resolution for his accomplishments during the 2010 Football Season with Auburn Football.  Many others items of business was passed by both houses, which enabled the young men and young ladies to see their state government at work.

After their visit to both houses, they were treated to a photo op and meeting with Alabama Governor, Robert Bentley.

All of the Alabama FFA Members and their FFA Advisors that were apart of "FFA Day on the Hill", are shown with Alabama Governor Robert Bentley in the middle of the front row, on the steps in front of the Alabama State Capitol.
